Sir Thomas Gladstone, 2nd Baronet (25 July 1804 – 20 March 1889)[1] was a Tory (later Conservative) politician in the United Kingdom.
He was Member of Parliament (MP) for Queenborough from 1830 to 1831,[2] for Portarlington from 1832 to 1835,[3] for Leicester from 1835 to 1837,[4] and (briefly) for Ipswich 1842.[1] He was Lord Lieutenant of Kincardineshire from 1876 until his death in 1889.
An elder brother of the Liberal Prime Minister William Ewart Gladstone, he was born in Liverpool, the eldest son (and second child) of the wealthy Scottish-born businessman John Gladstone (born Gladstones) and his second wife Anne MacKenzie Robertson.[5]
